The Small Business Centre wanted a digital marketing consultant to help their clients show their best online. Here's what I contributed to their team.

As a digital marketing consultant, my mission was to help local homeowners navigate whatever challenge might cross their way as they worked on developing an online presence.


When clients didn't have a previous website, we would sit together and explore how their business model could benefit from implementing digital tools in their business. This would often entail creating an e-commerce site, walking business owners through creating a social media presence and helping them with content creation to reach new audiences online. Depending on the involvement and business of the client, setting up an ads account and discussing copy fundamentals was part of the process too.


When they did have a presence online, my role as a consultant was all about taking their brand further. By auditing their social media presence, I would suggest ways to improve their performance, such as changing their payment processor or how to connect their website inventory to Facebook to create shoppable ads. I also assisted them with technical troubleshooting on multiple platforms such as WordPress and Wix.


As a consultant, there was an important educational component to my work. For this reason, I created multiple training videos and live webinars that addressed common topics that were discussed during my conversations with business owners. To complement this, I would also cooperate with my manager by providing analytical insights related to clients to inform the creation of outreach programs.
